Things I cannot stand

I really detest people who try to act smart in the presence of others, and this is a classic example today.

this queer former student cum relief teacher took his place beside my music teacher who was doing a consultation with me. Well I pretty much had a good impression of him at first, a well accomplished student, a result of the 4 years of good education here in AC.

so on goes consultation, and he makes these smart ass remarks, one that goes something like this. my teacher points out a mistake I made, and I replied, "Yes I know, I will change it", then this stupid dumb ass decides to say in a quiet tone "Sometimes knowing is not good enough". He then tries to go one up, saying "Mr XXX is looking at the content, I am going further by looking at the organisation".

And I say, I'm going to the national library later for IA, then go home do TOK, then sleep. Then he says "What sleep? You should be doing work!"

What a dumb airheaded ass. my opinion of him dropped considerably, thinking of him as someone who tried to make himself look smart but ended up looking pretty stupid and giving others a bad impression of him.

Actions speak louder than words.

quite a lot of things to say since today has been quite a day..

day startedof rainy and gloomy, above all, it was a downcast day.. however that meant that PE was confined to the indoors! so it was some standing broadjump and sit and reach. after that was badminton, and more badminton games with the GREAT Gareth. Heck I think I enjoyed myself a pretty dammed lot..

recess, what more could I ask for.. nice hot ban mian with soup to warm me up and keep me full for the rest of the day.. but from here on I would like to address some issues..

1) The most annoying people are those who talk a lot and look at the bad side of people rather than the good. Granted I think in my time at ACS(I) I probably made some bad choices along the way due to my occasional stupidity, but I believe that you are not any better either. Well. What can I say. I am just glad you aint in my class no more because you are one big nuthead that ought to be slapped good in your face. The girl who actually listened to you is probably another airhead as well.

2) To another person. Well, you are a nice guy, I look at the good side of things, but you can't really differentiate pranks from serious affairs can you.. nope I dont think so. It got me quite annoyed today and really, that was quite uncalled for. Know when to stop for God's sake.

I guess I have pretty much said it all. After school was some kind of a discussion for YLS for next week, and it's NEXT WEEK!!! And we havent got much done yet!!

Well thanks for even listening to me and have a good Good Friday.!

Aiyoh!

have i mentioned that the last 4 digits of my hp number, 7155, won the 1st prize for 4D last weekend! imagine how much i could have made!

and my family's car plate number, 8166, won the starter prize!

omg! how much i would have made!

rewrite of EE 2600 plus words.

Thanks..

after that disastrous day where I basically lost it, I decided that licking my wounds and wallowing in self pity would do nothing to help a cause. What I have been doing instead is picking myself up, rewriting things that need to be rewritten, taking things from scratch, and have landed up at about 2k worth of words. a far cry from the 3.7k that I once had, but at least it's progress.

thanks tkc for helping me out, my friends, my parents and most importantly the one up there, the one who provides encouragement and support. Without you guys I would probably be dead and buried now.

1st Rant

A pretty frustrating day for me today and I ended up shedding a few tears when I got back home. 1) Never felt frustrated like that at this sort of level for a hell of a long time. 2) And even if I do, I usually don't show it.. My cheerful mood seems to cover it all up huh..

Now seriously, I have worked on that bloody thing for more than a year now. I don't find it a problem, and it makes perfect sense to me. You freaking send out mixed signals that seem to confuse me all the time and I don't really know how to respond. Now granted there IS work to be made on it, it is not perfect. But yet you say one time that some parts are good, next moment you condemm the whole thing. Goodness gracious me how I regret even choosing you as someone to help me out.

God is my cat my best friend? Goodness gracious me. 1st rant in a long time.

I swear today's PC lesson was the BOMB! Just ask Jem, Jia and Kia. Sure they will tell you the same thing!

Anyway quotes of the PC period:

"You can bring your own board games next week.." (not saying who or whether he/she meant it)

"Sir what does dy/RC equal to? 0!" (Me, referring to our most beloved PCT. Ask Jem to tell you what it means..)

My Own quotes:

"I wish Jaime had more eggs!" (me again)

Well today was a good day. Much better than yesterday.. By a mile!

One mourns the extreme loss of life.

The thing about children is that they have something we do not have: innocence. Simply put it this way. Do they question what the meaning of life is? Or whether knowledge we value the most is one that can me most justified (TOK Q9)? The answer is a resounding No. It would take another Siddhartha to do just that.. and I dont think the next Siddhartha is anywhere amongst these children..

Children have something we do not possess. They can make you drop your weapons almost instantly, make you smile and say, "I wish I was still like them". Children are God's gift to mankind, and seriously, I wonder how people do not want to have kids... It is just so rewarding to see them grow up.

ok busybodies and more busybodies. I guess I have to apologise to Fab for spamming his tagboard once more...

but apologies aside, I think the first 2 weeks of school have been uneventful. I mean, besides starting my music investigation from scratch last Thursday and finishing with a good 2000 plus words and 11 full extracts, I guess that is relatively incredible. Plus I have a powerpoint presentation for it too!

Yesterday was fun, I mean, sitting in an auditorium with great apprehension about what to happen. Seeing our seniors waiting for their results and thinking "ONE YEAR FROM NOW IT'S OUR TURN!! NO!!!!!!!!!". That sucks. Anyway, I do not need to rattle about how good we are. Other people's blogs have it already, and besides, who really reads my blog?! Seeing our school appear on TV, and the celebrated media response, I think we really have to give credit to Dr Ong for introducing the IB programme. And Dr Ong was so freaking happy that he gave today as a holiday without thinking!

So then Chinese results. I was scared and everyone was scared. 6 or 7, SL 2 or no SL2. Glad to say I came away with 7, and no more SL2 yeah! But seriously, thanks be to God, because he promised me one even though sometimes, we do not have faith to receive it.

But finally, I still have more work to do. One more music compo to wrap things up. Almost one year anniversary to "YOUR LOYAL LOVE".

and whoop, I never heard anyone claim "you are my best friend and idol" and I really dont know what to expect so... I'm not an idol. Long long long way to go. I am not even made of stone.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS PEOPLE!

Thursday, January 03, 2008

Well here we are. Somewhere we thought we never would be. IB Y2, 18 years old. hmmmmm.... It does good to look back at those times when we were P1, another 11 years to completion of education, and 12 years to NS.

Times change, and we have changed.

So anyway, I think the first 2 days have been great. It doesnt help me thinking of last year where the radio DJ of Gold 90.5 was saying "Another 243 days of the year". Now great, we have landed up here. But 2008 is a crucial time, a time that will not be fun, but one that promises to mould our future. Beijing Olympics will also be held this year, and does it not seem too far away where the Athens Olympics were being held.

But these 2 days have been fantastic. On the 1st day of school, all of us gathered around for small chat once again, saying "Well here we are! Have you done your EE, IA, MI, TOK.... blah blah". Nice to see you guys again, and of course, the unforgettable feeling of seniority when seeing our juniors. I missed you guys mighty lots, the fantastic fellowship at the SAC, and the music listening in class. Well I dont think I was disappointed on the 1st day of school. In fact, I am quite astounded that I find a pack of guys playing cards in our class on the first day of school. Well tradition where we play cards on the last few days of school have been broken and oh! Doesnt it feel like last year?

I think everything today was great and slack except for the discipline briefing today. Not one to slam people but I find this talk pretty weird and rather dumb really.

1) Now guys cant wear black shoes. Great! A total contradiction of what the Student Council told us last year. What is the difference? Why ban black shoes for guys? Scared the guys become to girly? Aww comeon. Surely you can give us better explaination for that besides "Oh it was only for chapel. Black Leather shoes" What utter nonsence. It was a totally different story last year.

2) Gambling. How the heck do you gamble with bridge?! And who the hell wants to bet?! Come on dudes, there is a bridge club in school. So what? They bet? It was like "What the.." And the statement saying "You can play in the comfort of your own homes". Who plays bridge with your parents at home raise up your hands?

Ok I suppose that was pretty dumb. But some points though were relevant and I dont think I need to repeat something we have heard for the last 12 years.

I have spent 12 good years at this school and I think I have learnt a lot generally. GENERALLY.

Monday, December 31, 2007

Now as the minutes run dry, and the seconds draw close, I feel it is about time to write my final post and reflections for the year 2007, the year that has been so good and bountiful in terms of harvest and experience.

I believe in the beginning of the year, it was a year of trials and new expectations, not just that, it was a totally different experience in terms of school work and aims. 5.13 started out strong, and still is going strong. At our first PC lesson, I wrote on the board and this remains etched in my mind "Treasure the times we have together". I think this is still very apt as the chapter of our class draws to a close in December 2008. We do not have a long time left before we guys go the army and you gals go to Uni. This year, I was shockingly made the Vice-Chairman of our class and to tell you the truth, I least expected anything like that. I have never held a position so high in the class comm since 2003, and the responsibilities this time were much greater. From the WoW trip and the gathering of funds, I feel that this was the most important task yet. I was honoured, and I believed many of you guys were shocked that an idiot like Leon could hold a committee position. Yeah I wasnt sure I was up to the task either. But telling you the truth, I enjoyed every single moment of it. Hope you guys still trust me.

However, I think the greatest thing that happened this year was still the fellowship and the strong bond that our class has. Trust me, even the guys in 4.17 06' that belonged to already such a great class thought that way too. It just got better in many ways. From the Feb birthdays I could tell this class was not going to be an ordinary class, and any doubts would be cleared by the time we reached WoW. I miss you guys after this holiday has started, and I wish the time of fellowship between us would never end, the song singing, the suanning sessions, the eating together and blah blah. And of course Ultimate Frisbee.

But aside from the class and what have you, I believe I must reflect on my personal life. My personal life has been an absolute disaster this year, and my grades has been on a downward curve since the start of 2005. I have never seen my glory days that I had seen in 2004 and I am not happy about it. It has gone to the extent that Jeremy asked me "Eh what happened ah?" Ya la, too lazy, too playful and what have you. Also the God element in my life receded in the past 2 years, and it was up to me once again to get my life back on track. I vow not to commit the same things again next year.

On the other hand, I have had some good times. My first Chinese pop song that I wrote was unforgettable. I still remember I wrote it before Church at Singapore Expo, in the Coffee Bean while my parents were having bible study. From the time it started to the climax of it's life, I believe I have seen success in many corners. An enjoyable song that is well liked by some of you guys, and the hauntingly highness of my voice. But the truth is, I must give credit to a few people also, namely my mom, who said it was nice and gave me the passion to continue, and Mr Wong, who helped me with the intro and the bridge of the song. And no Ying Hao he did not help me to write the chorus or the verse which was crucial in my opinion. I am now working on my second one.

To tell you the truth, even though music has not been going so well for me as a subject, I still find joy in song writing, and the pessimistic quality of life has not brought me down. I am also glad to have such good parents that truly care for me, and sometimes, looking at other families, I am glad the bond still holds. Especially the bond between my Mom and I that many of you guys mock. Truly, she is the only one that understands me and I am glad for that. Also I am glad that I have got to know my dad better, through all the things that we have been through.

It seems like one year has passed so fast. I cannot emphasize this more. My brother said back in 2006 that he wanted to get married in 2007, and it seems like the wedding has come and gone so fast. Last year I stood on the rooftop of my house, looking at the fireworks that Johor was putting up, and now, it is about to start 30 minutes from now. How fast could this year have gone? It seems like I have aged a lot.

I am really sorry if this is beginning to sound like a quarterly newsletter, but I have to take some time off to reflect on this year as a whole, the good times and the bad times. Sincerly speaking, the bad times have been kept to a minimal, the good times outweighing the bad more than 2:1. But I really need to get my academic life back up to scratch again.

My cat is looking at me now, and that Felix is so cute. I am truly glad that I have sacrificed a good 20 minutes wo write this post, and to tell you the truth, I am glad I sacrificed the Nintendo Wii next door to come back to this quiet corner of my house to write this reflection. And to end this long reflection off, have a great 2008 and the last few minutes of 2007!!!!

I hate it when people sing this song or play it but I guess I have no choice now.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes
And pou'd the gowans fine.
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld lang syne.

We twa hae sported i' the burn,
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.

And ther's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll tak' a right good willie-waught,,
For auld lang syne.

Thanks guys for all these memories and a god blessed happy new year!!

As I look back on my life in the last couple of years, seeing the number of failures that I have had in many aspects of my life, I cannot help but wonder all the time, what the heck is happening to me. I try my best, I do everything I can, do get the best I can get out of myself.

But many times, instead I see myself failing time and time again. I have many a time questioned the existence of God in my life, what I have done wrong, and why I can never see any successes in my daily living. Instead, I see more and more failures in my life, in academic studies, and a fruitless attempt to continue my passion for God. I do not see any promises, but many a failure instead.

Let me tell you now, I lost all my passion for my God and my lifestyle way back in 2006 already. I questioned the existence of God in my life, whether there was even a God, and nearly became a non-believer for good. I strayed further and further from the path that I was supposed to be on, and continuously saw a heartbroken Leon, who might have put on a brave, strong, and even a humourous front, but deep down there, was really a broken hearted one.

Now I am tearing as I write this post, because I finally see the mistakes that I have made in the past. As I watched the show, Facing the Giants, I finally saw what was wrong with me. I realised that I relied on my own strength all the time, no matter what I did, rarely succeeding, and always failing. This applied to my life even this year, and looking back, I am glad I turned back before it was too late. I had been disillusioned with church, who I had called God and so on, until I watched this show.

Not only that, I never involved God with anything I did, be it work, or studies, and never gave him the glory. Things seem easier nowadays, and I wished I had learnt my lesson earlier, and truly, I regret.

So next year I really look forward to God helping me through whatever I have done, and say, I have regained my passion for Christ once more again.

Sitting here in silence, I realise that it is almost 2 am in the morning.

Looking through my diary, recalling the days of old, I can hear and see the vision of each memory, deeply etched in my mind.

Yes, time flies, and before I had a blog, I had a diary. You see, my diary is almost 4 years old now. In fact, it is older than some of my neighbourhood kids. It stores slightly over 24 posts, posts that are influenced by anger, deceit, happiness, thankfulness, rejoicing, and almost every other emotion that the human might have.

My computer makes a heck a lot of noise, disrupting my thought process. It may be 1, but the memories of old, they will not disappear, they will not be forgotten, they will be etched in my mind forever. The good times, the bad times, the bittersweet moments, processes, and all. How could I ever forget them.

In fact, I would realise that hardly anyone reads my blog. But my diary contains stuff that I treasure the most. Stuff that I, would not want to blog on here. Private moments, moments of sorrow and that of victory, stored like archives, flooding through my brain even as I recollect every single one of them.

Short, long, they all are important to me.

It may seem that I am rambling off at 2am in the morning, but what better way to rejoice than looking at your diary once more, looking at the things you have succeeded in doing, the trying times that you have passed.

A blog makes you easily vulnerable to hate mail, like some of which my ex classmates would have known.

But dear diary, you who have seen through my darkest days and brightest moments, will never be vulnerable to attacks by malicious people, people who intend harm for you, will never be seen in you, no comments, no hijacking. Just pure thoughts from the reader.

And for that,

I love you.
